How To Create Pastel Stains For A Dreamy Look
Transform a timber bed frame with a beautiful blue hue
Ever wondered how those delicate, swoon-worthy pastel colours make their way onto furniture and crafts? You know, those charming pinks that whisper romance and those serene blues that transport you to calm seas? Well, get ready to dive into a world of pastel because we've got a little secret to spill.
Prooftint and Liming White – a match made in colour heaven. We show you how to whip up your very own pastel stains that'll leave your projects with a touch of colour without hiding the timber grain.
Create a smooth surface
Sand the timber with 240 grit sandpaper using the electric sander. A smooth surface ensures an even stain and the best looking finish.
Make sure to wipe away any sanding dust before you coat.
Mixing time!
Thoroughly stir Liming White with the flat blade stirrer.
Pour the desired amount of Liming White into the tray or container.
Time to add Prooftint in Black. Tip: Start off by adding a small amount, less than what you think you'll need.
Continue to add more Prooftint until you achieve your desired hue - We call this shade Plover! Remember to not exceed 5% Prooftint to Liming White.
Coat your timber
Using a brush, apply the Liming White and Prooftint solution in the direction of the timber grain.
Allow the mix to sit for up to 5 minutes before wiping away the excess stain with a clean cloth.
Leave to dry for an hour before applying a second coat.
Once your second coat is dry, apply a protective coat of Clear Varnish in Matt to seal in the beautiful colour.
