How to prepare your timber for Feast Watson Liming White Stain:
Okay, let's achieve these colour dreams!
How to prepare New Timber:
Sand to a smooth surface and remove all sanding dust before coating.
To achieve a super-smooth finish, or if the timber grain is open or coarse, apply a coat of Feast Watson Sanding Sealer and sand back as per the directions.
Note: For soft porous timbers such as Pine, Meranti and Cedar, seal with Feast Watson Timber Primer to ensure even absorption into the timber.
How to prepare Previously Coated Timber:
If your timber has been previously coated, you need to sand back to bare timber to ensure the best results.
Remember to remove all sanding dust before coating.
How to apply Feast Watson Liming White Stain:
Ensure the product has been thoroughly stirred through with a flat blade stirrer. Be careful not to introduce any bubbles!
Make sure you love your colour! Using an off-cut, test the colour to ensure you are happy with your choice. Note that the dwell time before wiping any excess, and the finishing clear coat will impact the final colour.
Let's do this:
In the direction of the grain, apply Liming White with a brush or Feast Watson Floor Finish Applicator.
Using a soft, clean cloth, wipe off excess when your desired colour has been achieved (1-5 minutes).
Leave to dry for 8 hours.
Looking for a stronger colour? That's okay! Stronger colours can be developed with further coats of Liming White. Just follow the above procedure to achieve your wonderful colour.
All done? Great! Now onto the protective coat. But remember, oil based top coats may cause the surface to yellow over time.
Ensure Liming White is completely dry before applying.
For interior floors, apply Feast Watson Timber Floor Oil, Feast Watson Timber Floor Wax or Feast Watson Timber Floor Varnish as per the label instructions.
For all other interior timber (not floors) apply three coats of Feast Watson Clear Varnish as per label directions.
Add up to 5% Prooftint to Liming White to create pastel tones. Add 50ml of Prooftint to a 1L can of Liming White. Apply the tinted mixture as per the above procedure.
