Get the look: Decking re-oil

How to re oil a deck

A deck is so much more than a step between the house and garden. Just as the kitchen is a place for coming together or the bedroom is a haven for rest, a deck is an extension of your home and a space in which to take pride. From your morning coffee ritual to afternoon drinks and dinners on balmy nights with friends — life is lived on decks.

What is a matt-look decking oil?

Matt-look decking oils are often applied to exterior decks due to their durability. With less sheen and colour pigment, a matt-look oil has the most natural finish of our decking oil range and is commonly used as more of a varnish coat to protect and seal your deck from the elements. The oil can also be used on timber walkways, outdoor furniture, pergolas, fences, and any outdoor timber in between.

How long does it take to dry?

Our water-based Matt Look Decking oil dries fairly fast, taking only about 12 hours to fully dry, with a recoat after four hours. To test if it’s dry, put the tip of your finger on one of the corner boards to see if it’s still sticky. If it is, then you’ll need to wait longer for it to dry.
