How to Apply your Feast Watson Floor Clear:
Okay, let's finish this floor off...
Before getting started, make sure your surface is clean from any grease, oil, dirt and dust! We want to achieve the best results from the start.
- Without introducing any bubbles, use a flat blade stirrer and thoroughly stir your product both before and during application.
- Using the Feast Watson Floor Finish Applicator, brush or short nap mohair roller, apply your first coat. Work along 3-4 floorboards at a time, maintaining a wet edge to prevent lap marks and lay off in the direction of the grain. And remember, avoid introducing any bubbles!
- When the first coat is thoroughly dry, lightly sand and vacuum to remove dust.
- Go ahead and apply your second coat! If you have porous timber or cork, a third coat may be needed to achieve the gloss level.
Do you need to stain your timber? Great - read this before applying Floor Clear:
- Stain bare timber after sanding using Feast Watson Prooftint or Feast Watson Liming White as per the application instructions.
- Using Feast Watson Timber Primer, seal porous timbers such as pine with one coat prior to staining to ensure the stain absorbs evenly.
- Ready to stain? Mix Prooftint with Feast Watson Prooftint Colour Reducer to allow time to evenly work the stain across the floor.
- Make sure you love your colour! Test the colour mix on off-cuts of flooring to ensure you have the right colour.
- Apply stain to the floor with a Floor Finish Applicator as per Prooftint instructions. Make sure you allow 12 hours to dry before applying Floor Clear.
Floor Clear cannot be tinted with Prooftint.
