Stain & Varnish Liming White
Water Based, Liming Stain & Varnish
Stain & Varnish Liming White gives a soft, milky white effect to timber and simultaneously preserves the stain by protecting it with a durable clear finish. The water based formula is non yellowing, and imparts colour without obscuring the natural characteristics of the timber grain. One coat gives a subtle, pale colour; multiple coats will build the opacity and whiteness.
Stain & Varnish Liming White is convenient to apply as it is fast drying, low odour and all application equipment can be cleaned up with water.
Available in Gloss and Satin.
New or bare timber/cork
Sand to a smooth surface and remove all sanding dust before coating. To achieve a super-smooth finish or if the timber grain is open or coarse, apply a coat of Feast Watson Sanding Sealer and sand back as per the directions.
Previously Coated Timber
Previously coated surfaces need to be sanded back to bare timber. Remove all sanding dust before coating
Test colour on an off-cut or inconspicuous area prior to staining the whole job to ensure satisfaction with colour choice. Stir thoroughly before and during application with a flat blade stirrer taking care not to introduce bubbles.
Apply Stain & Varnish Liming White using a brush, roller or spray. If spraying Stain & Varnish Liming White may be thinned by using 10% water. If applying by roller, use a short nap (5mm) mohair roller. Ensure edges and end grain are fully coated.
For new timber or if applying by spray three coats of varnish are required. If the desired colour is achieved with the first coat, complete the following coats with a suitable water based clear coating as additional coats of Stain & Varnish Liming White will intensify the colour.
Allow 2 hours drying between coats. Sand lightly between coats with a fine sandpaper.
If applying over a previous varnish coating, two coats will be sufficient.
Regularly monitor the surface for signs of colour loss or surface defects. When required, lightly sand the surface and remove dust. Recoat with additional coats of a suitable water based clear coating as per application instructions.
