Weatherproof Varnish

Satin & Gloss Marine Grade Timber Varnish

A clear, polyurethane timber finish incorporating maximum UV screening to provide excellent, long-lasting protection against the elements. Ideal for where a tough clear satin or gloss finish is required with resistance to sunlight, salt mist, chemicals, oils and solvents.

Weatherproof Varnish can also be used on the inside of window frames and external doors, and to give Wood Shield Oil a Gloss or Satin finish.

Weatherproof Varnish can also be applied over Timber & Deck Stain to create a  Gloss or Satin exterior durable Stain & Varnish.

Note: Weatherproof Varnish is NOT suitable for heavy wear surfaces (such as decks and walkways). For these areas use Feast Watson Decking Oil,  Traditional Timber Oil, Decking Stain, Timber & Deck Stain, Wet Look Deck or Grey Look Deck.

Application

Feast Watson Weatherproof Varnish should be stirred thoroughly before and during application with a flat blade stirrer taking care not to introduce bubbles.

Apply Weatherproof Varnish using a brush, roller or spray. If spraying Weatherproof Varnish may be thinned by using 10% mineral turpentine. If applying by roller, use a short nap (5mm) mohair roller. Ensure edges and end grain are fully coated.

Apply minimum three coats. Four or more coats may be applied for extra durability, or when the coating has been thinned.

Allow 12 hours drying between coats. Sand lightly between coats. The final coat should be applied within 30 hours of the previous coat to ensure timber is protected.

Maintenance

Regularly monitor the surface for signs of colour loss or surface defects. When required, lightly sand the surface and remove dust. Recoat with additional coats of Feast Watson Weatherproof Varnish as per application instructions.
