Timber & Deck Stain
Adds Rich Colour And Subtle Sheen to Timber
Timber & Deck Stain is a penetrating, semi-transparent exterior timber finish that adds rich colour and a subtle sheen to timber, highlighting the natural beauty of the timber grain.
The two coat system is ideal for transforming the colour of timber, or rejuvenating the colour of old, weathered timber.
With its oil rich formula, Timber & Deck Stain protects timber from the destructive effects of water, UV and mould. Timber & Deck Stain is resistant to cracking, peeling and blistering and is suitable for use over bare and previously coated timber that is prepared as per the below instructions.
Timber & Deck Stain can also be used for inside/outside colour matching. It is ideal for doors, interior exposed beams, window frames and skirting boards.
Tip: Satin or GlOss finish
For a satin or gloss finish on vertical surfaces Timber & Deck Stain can be over coated with Feast Watson Clear Varnish (Interior) or Weatherproof Varnish (Exterior).
Note: Clear Varnish And Weatherproof Varnish are NOT suitable for coating areas subject to foot traffic.
Exterior Timber Preparation
Allow new timber to weather in its final position for 4 - 6 weeks. Prepare timber for coating with Feast Watson Woodclean as per the instructions. For best results, lightly sand the surface to remove any grain raise. Remove all sanding dust before coating.
Prepare weathered or grey timber by cleaning thoroughly with Woodclean as per the instructions. Sanding may be required to remove stains and restore deteriorated surfaces. Remove all sanding dust before coating.
Previously Coated Timber
Previously coated surfaces need to be taken back to bare timber by stripping or sanding. Prepare timber for coating with Woodclean as per the instructions.
Allow the timber to dry completely before applying Timber & Deck Stain. Timber & Deck Stain should be stirred thoroughly before and during application with a flat blade stirrer taking care not to introduce bubbles. If the job requires more than one can of stain, mix all together in one large container prior to commencing.
Apply two coats of Timber & Deck Stain using a brush, spray or Feast Watson Floor Applicator. If applying with spray, back brush the coating to ensure even penetration. Work along 3 - 4 planks at a time, in the direction of the grain. Ensure edges and end grainare fully coated.
Allow 12 hours drying between coats.
Note: One coat is normally sufficient for interior timber. A second coat would only be required to achieve greater depth of colour and greater protection. For a satin, or gloss finish on vertical surfaces, overcoat with Clear Varnish (Interior) or Weatherproof Varnish (Exterior) as per label instructions.
Clear Varnish and Weatherproof Varnish are NOT suitable for coating areas subject to foot traffic.
Regularly monitor coated timber for signs of colour loss, dryness and weathering.
If required, clean the surface using Woodclean, allow the surface to dry and recoat with one coat of Timber & Deck Stain. Note that additional coats will result in developing a stronger colour.
