Black Japan is a semi transparent stain so to achieve a strong shade of black we recommend you stain the surface directly with one coat of undiluted Feast Watson Prooftint Black and then stain with Black Japan. Black Japan should always be sealed (isolated) with Feast Watson French Polish which acts as a barrier preventing Black Japan from bleeding into the top coat.
Black Japan is suitable for use on all interior timber including furniture.
Black Japan is not recommended for floors. The same effect as traditional Black Japan can be achieved with the Feast Watson Prootftint Black Japan mix, click here for details.

Test on an offcut prior to staining the whole job to ensure satisfaction with colour choice. Note that the finishing clear coat will fully develop the final colour.
