Before choosing your stain, oil or clear finish, it is important to know about the timber you have selected. Each of the popular timbers here have characteristics that could affect the final outcome of your job and determine your choice of Feast Watson products.
Tallowwood is a naturally oily wood with high tannin content. A very tough and durable Australian eucalypt used widely for decking. Care is needed when nailing to avoid splitting. It gets its name from its greasy/waxy surface that can sometimes cause problems with staining and oiling. Leave tallowwood to weather slightly before sanding, staining and oiling.
