Sanding Timber Floors
New or old timber floorboards can be sanded to a smooth finish ready for coating. Ensure that the floors are traditional boards and not floating floors before sanding. Floating floors have a thin timber veneer which can vary in thickness. Thin timber veneers can easily be removed by a sanding machine which will destroy the floor.

Black Japan Floors
Feast Watson Black Japan is a traditional, semi transparent, black gloss timber stain that is designed to achieve a range of varying shades from black to light oak.
Black Japan’s use on floors in Australia began in the 1920’s and 1930’s to ‘frame’ floor carpet squares by being applied around the edges of rooms and hallways. Black Japan was not intended to be walked on, instead had a decorative function on the floor. There is a method for applying Black Japan to floors, however, it is difficult as it requires the Black Japan to be isolated with French Polish and is only recommended for use by experienced applicators.
The same effect as traditional Black Japan can be achieved with a Prooftint mix. The Prooftint Black Japan system is easier to apply over an entire floor and provides the same beautiful look.

Limed Timber Floors
Limed floors are a beautiful addition to a home and will lighten the appearance of any room. Liming is like a whitewash, allowing the characteristics and variations of the timber to show through. Feast Watson Liming Solution produces a white milky finish which can also be tinted to a variety of pastel tones by adding Feast Watson Prooftint.

Stained Timber Floors
Stains are ideal to change the colour of timber floors without hiding the characteristics and variations of the timber. For example, a pine floor can be stained with a dark walnut stain to completely change the look of the floor and the feel of the room. Feast Watson Prooftint is a unique, fast drying, spirit based stain that allows the full detail of the timber grain to show through. Prooftint colours can be mixed to create a custom shade or to achieve a specific timber colour match.
